Biocomplexitat

Els sistemes vius són el paradigma dels sistemes complexos, amb interaccions no lineals que es produeixen a totes les escales espacials i temporals, des de molècules i gens fins a l'escala planetària que defineix la biosfera global. Un dels eixos de la nostra investigació és el nivell ecològic, en el qual considerem els tipus de mobilitat dels organismes i la seva interacció amb la recerca d'aliments, propagació de malalties, patrons espacials i també amb les interaccions ecològiques bàsiques com la competició, la depredació o el mutualisme. Un altra qüestió central en els nostres estudis és la comprensió de la funció cerebral, que requereix anar a escales que van des de les neurones individuals fins al  cervell complet. Al nivell neuronal ens concentrem en aspectes de sincronització entre poblacions de neurones  interaccionants i estudiem com flueix la informació. Amb l'ajuda de mesures estadístiques analitzem dades experimentals i comparem resultats amb models neuronals.
