IFISC People: Tobias Galla

July 2, 2019

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Tobias Galla joins IFISC as a CSIC tenured researcher.

Dr. Tobias Galla received his undergraduate degree from the University of Münster (Germany), and his PhD from the University of Oxford (UK, 2004). He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste (Italy) from 2004 to 2007. Since 2007 he has been at the University of Manchester (UK), first as a RCUK Fellow/Lecturer, then as a Senior Lecturer, and since 2016 as a Reader in Theoretical Physics.

His interests include the dynamics of disordered and stochastic complex systems, in particular individual-based models, with applications in evolutionary game theory, information processing, learning and decision making, stochastic population dynamics, and mathematical biology (gene regulatory systems, anti-microbial resistance). His work combines theoretical approaches from statistical mechanics (master equation, path integrals, stochastic differential equations) and numerical simulations.
