IFISC People: Felipe Olivares and Luisina Pastorino

June 7, 2021

We are pleased to announce that Felipe Olivares and Luisina Pastorino join IFISC within the ARCTIC (Air Transport as Information and Computation) project under the supervision of Dr. Massimiliano Zanin.

Felipe Olivares got his PhD degree in physics on Information Theory applied to time series analysis at Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina (2013). Then he joined the Centro de Investigaciones Ópticas as a CONICET-postdoctoral fellow (Argentina). In 2016 he got a FONDECYT postdoctoral position at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in the Atmospheric and Statistical Optics Laboratory, where he worked on dynamical characterization of optical signals propagating through atmospheric turbulence. He joins IFISC as a postdoctoral researcher within the ARCTIC project to characterize aspects of the air transport by a representation through real and synthetic time series as complex networks.

Luisina Pastorino is an Industrial Engineer graduated from the National University of Rosario (Argentina) with a master’s degree in Big Data by the UIB. Her TFM covered a survey of state-of-the-art of Fuzzy Clustering Algorithms for Large-Scale Datasets. Luisina joins IFISC to pursue a Ph.D. focused on the study of the propagation of delays in the air transport system from an information processing perspective also within the ARCTIC project.
