Quantum meeting: Quantum Fisher Information and its dynamical nature

MdM Quantum Meeting

The importance of the quantum Fisher information metric is testified by the number of applications that this has in very different fields, ranging from hypothesis testing to metrology, passing through thermodynamics. In this presentation, after a small technical introduction of the family of quantum Fisher information, I'll discuss a fact that was overseen in the literature, namely the inherently dynamical nature of Fisher information. This will be exemplified with three examples: first, the equivalence between positivity of a map and the contraction of Fisher information; second, the possibility of defining Markovianity (CP-divisibility) in the same manner; and finally, the definition of detailed balance as self-adjointness with respect to the Fisher information metric.
