Balearic power grid stability in scenarios with large photovoltaic generation
The first step in the decarbonization agenda of the Balearic Islands was to close down a coal fired power plant in December 2019. In the upcoming years, the following steps will be to integrate a higher share of solar photovoltaic generation. In this talk, I will analyze the frequency fluctuations and the overall grid stability in such scenarios. I will also analyze the role of the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) link with mainland Spain in the control requirements needed to ensure grid stability.
