A researcher of IFISC wins a RSEF-BBVA Foundation Physics award

Oct. 2, 2017

Raúl Toral, researcher of IFISC, has been awarded with the prize for the best teaching article in the Spanish Royal Society of Physics (RSEF) publications. RSEF - BBVA Foundation Physics Awards, given annually, recognize creativity, effort and achievement in the field of physics to serve as a stimulus for those professionals who carry out their work both in research and in the teaching fields.

The award-winning article, "Theory of Partitions Explained by Statistical Physicists", develops known results of the partition function used in number theory (and in the development of which the celebrated Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan contributed) using concepts and techniques of statistical physics, the theory that explains the observable properties of matter from the atoms and molecules that form it.
