The brain is the paradigmatic example of a complex system: thousands of millions of elements are interconnected producing emerging phenomena as rich as memory or consciousness. Approaching the study of the brain from the perspective of the different scientific branches is essential to have as many tools as possible and to have a greater versatility.
With this cross-disciplinary approach in mind, a scientific session entitled “Analizando los circuitos neuronales de la memoria desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar " was held on July 2 at the headquarters of the Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de les Illes Balears (Royal Academy of Medicine of the Balearic Islands). In charge of the session were Dr. Santiago Canals Gamoneda, CSIC Scientific Researcher and member of the Institute of Neurosciences of Alicante and Dr. Claudio R. Mirasso Santos, Professor of Physics at the University of the Balearic Islands and member of the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (CSIC-UIB). Both offered an approach to the neural circuits in charge of producing and storing memory, each from the perspective of its field of expertise.
The whole session was recorded and is available on the YouTube channel of the Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de les Illes Balears.
