11 February, International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Feb. 7, 2017

With the clear objective of "achieving full and equitable access to and participation in science for women and girls in order to achieve gender equality", the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

From Monday 6 to Sunday 19 February, there will be activities throughout the country: from workshops given by scientists explaining what their research activity consists of, to exhibitions that will recall the figure of important scientific women throughout history. The complete list of activities can be found on their website.

Within the framework of the 11deFebrero initiative, the Advisory Commission of the President of the CSIC "Women and Science", the institutes of the CSIC have taken photographs with all the women in their centers as protagonists. These photographs will be the welcome images on the different pages of the CSIC institutes as a sign of support for the proposal.

The hashtag #Científicas11F will collect photographs, testimonials, announcements and other material related to this initiative in the different social networks.
