Presentación de trabajo academicamente dirigido: In the 19th century, the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto proposed a distribution to describe the allocation of wealth in society. The so called “Pareto’s Law” is a power law probability distribution which reflects the way that a larger portion of wealth of any society is owned by a smaller percentage of the people.

We proposed a network for the cultural interaction between agents based on the assumption that an agent is most likely to interact culturally with individuals of a similar wealth. We assigned a wealth distribution to the agents in a society of N individuals according to Pareto’s law and created links between elements with similar wealth. We then implemented Axelrod’s dynamics for the spread of culture in this network and looked at the factors influencing the competition between globalization (consensus) and the existance of several cultural regions (polarization) in the society.
