The SURF fellowships provide support for a four-week summer research stay at IFISC, during which selected students will carry out a research program under the supervision of an IFISC researcher.
A total of up to 6 fellowships are offered.
Requirements
The candidate must be enrolled in an official university degree and must have passed at least 120 ECTS of his/her degree. This call requires a minimum average qualification of 7/10 (or equivalent).
Dedication and financial support
Internships have assigned a total research work of 150 hours, equivalent to four weeks working full time. Each fellowship provides room and full board lodging in the UIB Residence in Campus plus the air transportation from the residence of the intern to Mallorca and transfer from Palma de Mallorca airport to the residence. Interns choosing not to stay in the UIB Residence will get a compensation of 200€ and will get a paid lunch in the UIB Residence from Monday to Friday.
In addition, those SURF fellows with a positive assessment of their stay will not have to pay the official UIB registration costs (around 1800€) in the case of applying and being accepted to the Master of Physics in Complex Systems offered by IFISC and not having a fellowship that covers this registration.
Starting date and duration
SURF internships will take place from Wednesday July 1st to Tuesday July 28th.
Accommodation at the UIB Residence is reserved from Tuesday June 30th to Thursday July 30th, with the night of July 30th not included.
Deadline
The deadline for submitting the application is March 22nd, 2026.
