This project explores the intricate architecture and temporal evolution of brain networks through the lens of neurophysics and complex systems. Utilizing tools from dynamical systems, network theory, and statistical physics, we aim to uncover the principles that govern how neurons and regions of the brain organize, communicate, adapt, age and respond to brain stimulation. Our focus lies on understanding and characterizing emergent phenomena such as brain waves, synchronization and dynamic functional connectivity, criticality, and hierarchy of timescales in the brain, providing insights into brain function and the fragility/resilience of brain networks to localized or selective perturbations. The work bridges physics, neuroscience, and systems theory, offering a quantitative framework to understand the complexity of brain dynamics in health and disease.
