Many systems outside the normal purview of Physics are comprised of many individuals interacting in a stochastic manner. I am interested in how ideas from the theory of Statistical Physics and Complex Systems can be used to explain how observable (macroscopic) phenomena can arise from the microscopic interactions in such systems. More specifically, I am interested in how randomness (both in the form of intrinsic noise and quenched disorder) can have a profound effect on emergent behaviour.

My work has previously explored the role of noise and disorder in models of gene regulatory networks, Turing pattern formation and ecosystem stability. I am now continuing my work in the context of opinion dynamics with the PACCS project here at IFISC.
