Vegetation fronts in clonal growth models

Pattern formation in vegetated ecosystems is known as a prominent example of self-organization. Generally, interactions across space drive the system to regular distributions of vegetations, shaping the landscape and its biological functionality. Interestingly, vegetation patterns appear in completely different environments, from arid ecosystems to marine. However, no matter the habitat the same sequence of patterns is found when stressing factors are increased.

Although this phenomena have been widely studied, much less is known about vegetation fronts, specially regarding to those between different spatial patterns.

In this talk we will show different numerical simulations about fronts for clonal growth models, focusing mainly in the 1-dimensional case.
