Topology is becoming very important in modern solid state physics. On the other hand, old school thermoelectricity is getting renewed attention due to suggested high conversion efficiency in nanostructures not to mention its fundamental importance as a spectroscopic tool. Starting from the Hall effect and quantum Hall effect, we briefly explain the topological concepts in condensed matter physics. Then, focused on the two-dimensional topological insulator which manifestly shows the quantum spin Hall effect at the boundary edges, spin-thermoelectric effects are discussed in nonlinear transport regime [Phys. Rev. B 90, 115301 (2014)].
