Statistical physics discovers scale-invariance and criticality by renormalization, a repeated coarse-graining of geometric space. Systems built purely on network structure have escaped the treatment. An expansion of the renormalization toolbox allows us to explore scale-invariance in real-world networks without geometric embedding.
