Palma de Mallorca will host the W4Q: Quantum Science Conference from 23 to 25 March 2026, an international meeting bringing together researchers working at the forefront of quantum physics. The event will highlight recent advances across a wide range of topics, including quantum optics, atomic and molecular physics, many-body quantum systems, quantum information, quantum thermodynamics, quantum communication and sensing, as well as emerging quantum technologies.
The conference is promoted by the Women for Quantum (W4Q) network, a community of senior researchers in quantum physics. Over the past years the initiative has grown into an international network for scientific collaboration, reflection on research practices (see their Manifesto of values) and a more inclusive scientific environment. This meeting marks the launch of the first international conference organized by the network.
The program includes invited talks, contributed presentations, poster sessions and a round table discussion. Among the featured speakers are Janet Anders (Universities of Exeter and Potsdam), Stefanie Barz (University of Stuttgart), Pérola Milman (Université Paris Cité and CNRS), Mio Murao (University of Tokyo) and Valentina Parigi (Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, Sorbonne Université and CNRS).
The conference will take place at the ParcBit Auditorium in Palma and is open to researchers of all genders and career stages, with a particular encouragement for early career scientists and young researchers to participate, present their work and connect with the international quantum science community.
Following the main conference, the fourth edition of the Women for Quantum workshop will take place from 25 to 28 March in Estellencs, Mallorca.
The first W4Q Quantum Science Conference is supported by the Catalonia Quantum Academy, IFISC (UIB-CSIC), the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), and EPJD.
