The Rector of the University of the Balearic Islands, Dr. Llorenç Huguet, and the CEO of Advanced Programming Solutions SL (APSL), Mr. Antoni Aloy, have signed a specific collaboration agreement between the UIB, FUEIB and APSL. UIB, through the Institute of Cross-disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC, CSIC-UIB), and APSL will be able to exchange information and collaborate in the processing and analysis of data and in computational models of social and socio-technical phenomena.
This agreement aims to develop joint collaboration, exchange and cooperation programmes in the fields of teaching, dissemination and research. Cooperation between both parties may include the exchange of information, the organisation of seminars, colloquia and symposia, joint research studies and other activities.
Currently, APSL is dedicated to the comprehensive development of applications and custom solutions for websites and mobile phones, system maintenance, cloud services management, IT engineering, data mining, digital services, consulting and training. This company counts with 60 highly qualified employees, many of them UIB graduates.
Also attending the signing of the agreement were the director of the University-Enterprise Foundation of the Balearic Islands, Dr. Luis Vegas; Dr. Maxi San Miguel, director of IFISC (CSIC-UIB); Dr. Simona Obreja, project manager of IFISC (CSIC-UIB); and the director of the Data Science department of APSL, Dr. Juan Carlos González.
