Once again this year, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC, CSIC-UIB) organizes an “Open Day” aimed at undergraduate students at the University of the Balearic Islands with the objective of getting to know the research activities carried out at IFISC, as well as its training offers. It is an open activity to students of any degree (being of special interest for students in their final years) with scientific interest and intellectual capabilities. Throughout the activity, we will explain what IFISC is and what are its lines of research, emphasizing the interdisciplinary spirit of IFISC.
The event will take place on Friday, February 15th at 2:00 p.m., at the IFISC seminar room Montserrat Casas. The activity will begin with a presentation of the institute, where we will explain the way in which work is carried out at IFISC and the different lines of research:
Students will also be presented with the Master's Degree in Complex Systems Physics given by IFISC, as well as the itineraries to be followed by students interested in studying a doctorate. In addition, the presentation includes visits to the photonics laboratory and computer facilities.
Afterwards, a refreshment will be offered to the attendees, after which the IFISC Poster Party will begin, where master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers will present their research in a poster format. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can get to know first-hand what the young researchers a IFISC are working on.
This is a great opportunity for undergraduates to learn what it means to be involved in research, as they will have the opportunity to talk directly with IFISC researchers themselves. Additionally, doctoral students will share their personal experience at the IFISC and they will answer questions.
