IFISC People: Magdalena Escales and Luisa Toledo Tude

March 11, 2025

We are pleased to introduce Magdalena Escales Oliver and Luisa Toledo Tude to the rest of the IFISC members.

Magdalena Escales holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics, a Master's degree in Geophysics, and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Barcelona. She has experience both in academia as a researcher and in the business sector as a data scientist. Her expertise lies in big data, developing algorithms for pattern detection and event identification, as well as business performance analysis and forecasting. Magdalena joins IFISC as part of the Technical Support department, where she will work with José Javier Ramasco on the Data Road project.

Luisa Toledo Tude, originally from Brazil, completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). She obtained her PhD from Trinity College Dublin in December 2024, where she focused on the thermodynamics of driven dissipative condensates, particularly those involving polaritons and photons. At IFISC, she will work as a postdoctoral researcher in collaboration with Roberta Zambrini, Gian-Luca Giorgi, and Gonzalo Manzano on the project "CoQuSy". Her research interests include quantum thermodynamics, open quantum systems, optics, and the emergence of collective phenomena.
