IFISC People: Luiza Angheluta and Eduardo H. Colombo

June 7, 2018

As a part of IFISC people, we are glad to introduce Luiza Angheluta and Eduardo H. Colombo.

Luiza is associate professor in the condensed matter physics group at the University of Oslo, Norway. Her current research focuses on statistical properties of 2d quantum turbulence in Bose Einstein condensates and mesoscale modelling of crystal plasticity.

At IFISC, she is a visiting researcher for 2 months. She is working with Emilio Hernandez-Garcia and Cristobal Lopez on Lagrangian statistics in two-dimensional quantum turbulence. Another research project relates to a generic mesoscale description of clustering transition, hexagonal patterns and their defects for particles with non-local interactions.

On the other hand, Eduardo comes from the department of Physics of PUC-Rio, where he obtained his PhD on the "Collective behaviour of living beings under spatiotemporal environmental fluctuations" (2018) under the supervision of Prof. Celia Anteneodo.

At IFISC he will work as a postdoc research also with Cristóbal López and Emilio Hernández-García for one year. He will investigate topics such as population survival and genetic variability. Using computational simulations and analytical techniques to describe the dynamics of living entities, he will focus on providing insights on the consequences of environmental changes and animal behaviour in the ecosystem stability.
