The technology consultancy Informática El Corte Inglés (INETUM) and the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) have awarded the fifth edition of the TalenTIC prizes for Degree theses (TFG) and Master theses (TFM) aimed at innovations in information and communications technologies (ICT).

IFISC master student Javier Galván was awarded as a finalist in the competition for his Master thesis entitled “Machine learning for remote sensing of xylella”, supervised by IFISC researchers Javier Ramasco and Manuel Matías. Galván is currently pursuing a PhD at IFISC within the “María de Maeztu” programme.

The main objective of the TalenTIC awards is to encourage technological innovation in the academic field and reward the effort and dedication of students who have made a TFG or TFM with innovative ICT applications. The jury highlighted the transversality of the projects and the potential for practical application of the presented proposals as a transfer of knowledge to society.
