The Institute for Cross-Disciplinary and Complex Systems (IFISC, UIB-CSIC) announces the SURF grants 2016 (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships) for young students interested in scientific research. These scholarships, awarded since 2013, aim to introduce young students in scientific research and complete their training with practical use of their knowledge, participating in any of the 9 projects offered in one of the leading internationally researching centers on Complex Systems.
There are offered 6 scholarships which will be carried out in June and July lasting 150 hours. The works will take place at IFISC Institute under the supervision of a member of their staff. Each scholarship is endowed with 600€ for residents in Mallorca and 900€ for the rest of students. Out of Mallorca students may request an extra journey grant, of 500€ maximum. To request, must have passed at least 120 ECTS credits of an official degree with a note equal or superior than 6. The deadline to submit applications is May the 1st, 2016.
SURF scholarships have a great acceptance among science students. In fact, last year 45 students from 18 universities and 6 different countries submitted a registration for one of the 6 grants.
