Die Inselzeitung magazine publishes an article about the University of the Balearic Islands highlighting the work of Ingo Fischer.
[Translation] The Laser brain: Professor Ingo Fischer is one of the German scientists and professors working at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He is a Photonics expert at the IFISC (UIB-CSIC) Institute. Prof. Fischer researches how neuronal information processing in the human brain can be reproduced with complex systems made of lasers and fiber optic systems. This technique would allow for a new generation of computers with much faster processing capabilities of larger amounts of data. The German professor has been at the UIB since 2009 after working at Universities and institutes in Darmstadt, Kyoto, Brussels, and Edinburgh.
