Tropical forests are among the ecosystems for which better datasets are available. I will present a model introduced recently to describe the stochastic evolution of the populations of species belong to a tropical forest. The equilibrium solution can be compared with real datas; moreover, the model can be exactly solved in time. This gives important hints about whether the dynamics of tropical forests is stochastic or not, and on which
timescales.
