Given some correlations among several distant non-communicating parties,
can they be obtained by performing local measurements on a quantum state?
We introduce a convergent hierarchy of necessary conditions to characterize
the set of quantum correlations. We also discuss the application of these
concepts to the design of device-independent quantum information protocols.
