This is a proposal for a series of self-organized talks (i.e., without a designated coordinator) on methods in complex systems. Although methods are a transversal research line at the institute, we currently lack a dedicated space for discussion. This initiative aims to fill that gap. Accordingly, whenever you feel you have a talk that fits this scope, you are welcome to propose it as a methods meeting.
In this session, we will discuss the recent controversy around graph vs higher-order networks sparked by the preprint by Peixoto et al.[1]. We will first comment on the ideas presented in that work. Then Jaume Llabrés, who has worked on related ideas in a previous preprint [2], will provide complementary insights. We will also have Lucas Lacasa, who touches on this debate from a different angle [3].
