The Generic theory provides a framework for the description of non-equilibrium phenomena beyond LTE and beyond linear non-equilibrium (i.e., linear relations between forces and currents). The framework will be applied to some simple and general systems: reactions with detailed balance and Fokker-Planck equation. The theory can be used as a guide to obtain the entropy balance equation en entropy production rate.
