Forecasting emergency department visits at Son Espases hospital: Is tourist and weather data relevant?

Broadcast soon

Accurate forecasting of patient arrivals at emergency departments (EDs) is vital for efficient resource allocation and high-quality patient care. In this talk, I will assess the relevance of tourism and weather data alongside traditional calendar and demographic variables in forecasting ED visits at Somn Espases public hospital, keeping in mind significant seasonal population fluctuations due to tourism. Utilizing a machine-learning methods, we developed a model that predicts ED visits based solely on exogenous variables. This aids in maintaining consistent prediction performance across different time horizons, a key factor for effective long-term resource planning in hospital emergency departments.
