A complete theory of quantum mechanics?

Despite its widespread acceptance, the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics remains controversial due to its statistical nature and lack of underlying physical reality. In this talk we will discuss the possibility of formulating a complete theory of quantum mechanics with solitons as particles. We will compare the predictions of such a theory for particles moving against a potential barrier with the results obtained using the Schrodinger equation, providing a deterministic interpretation of the quantum tunneling effect.
