The Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC) in Mallorca (Spain) is looking to hire a full-time Project Manager for European, national and other international research projects.
IFISC is a joint research institute of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and hosts high-qualified researchers from complex systems science. It was created in 2007 and has recently received the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence award. Now, IFISC seeks an outstanding candidate to support the ambitious development of the Institute in the coming years.
The
main contribution of the project manager to the IFISC is
- To identify new project opportunities, advise on project calls and project partners (collect information from partners, research bodies, funding agencies, opportunities in the private sector, etc.)
- Additionally, his/her responsibilities and tasks include
- Management of projects (research, training networks, ERC,...) within the European Framework Programme, other international projects and contracts with the private sector
- Keep track of schedule, ensure that milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget
- Knowledge management (collect information from partners, research bodies, funding agencies, EU, etc.)
- Financial and scientific project administration
- Find prospective customers for the IFISC service unit on data analytics
The candidate is expected to show
- Experience in several of the above mentioned tasks
- A background in science (preferably PhD)
- Knowledge of funding bodies of scientific research
- Experience of interpreting financial policies and compliance rules
- Excellent proficiency in English; high level of Spanish.
- Team working skills, self-motivation, excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
The position, funded by the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, will be initially opened for a 1-year period with the possibility of extension. The salary will be competitive according to the experience of the candidate. It will include a bonus based on the success in fund raising.
