The main purpose of this thesis is first to understand the dynamics of the grid
in presence of decentralized frequency control directly included in the electric
devices. We first consider the case of a single power plant and then extend
the study to the case of a network. Second, this thesis aims to analyze the
propagation of either blackouts or line outages in a situation where the electric
consumption is controlled. To these ends, we model a realistic electric power grid
using mathematical tools and computational methods.
