Ireceived the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, in 2014. I'm currently a researcher at CSIC-IFISC, where I am coordinating the ERC Starting Grant ARCTIC. With more than 140 published peer-reviewed contributions in international conferences and journals, I have a good experience in data mining and machine learning research, both the theory and the application, and I have collaborated with scientists from all over the world. My main topics of interest include Data Science and its application to several real-world problems, including the modelling and understanding of air transport or mining complex biomedical data sets. I'm a member of the editorial team of Nature Scientific Reports, the European Journal of Social Behavior, PeerJ, PeerJ Computer Science and Complexity.
This project is an ERC Starting Grant of panel SH2, "Institutions, Values, Environment and Space". Air transport has by and large been studied as a transportation process, in which different elements, e.g. ...
