My research activities comprise photonics, semiconductor laser physics and laser dynamics, complex systems, in particular delay-coupled systems and laser networks, as well as neuro-inspired information processing.

My current focus is to bridge the fields of photonics, complex systems and neuroscience, achieving cross-fertilization via the understanding of photonic systems, complex dynamical system's properties and their functionalities. This gives rise to bio-inspired photonics and novel information processing concepts.
