Quantum meeting: Fluctuation theorems revisited: the role of imperfect monitoring and feedback

Entropy production is a cornerstone of nonequilibrium thermodynamics, playing a dual role in characterizing energy dissipation and irreversibility. It quantifies the net energy dissipated as heat during thermodynamic processes, such as work lost to heat in driven-dissipative systems, while simultaneously measuring the degree of asymmetry in a process under time-reversal. Fluctuation theorems provide a robust mathematical framework to understand the probabilistic nature of entropy production, shedding light on the relationship between dissipation, irreversibility, and the microscopic dynamics of non-equilibrium systems. In this talk, we will explore two distinct forms of fluctuation theorems, each arising from different scenarios: one where the stochastic trajectory of the system is imperfectly observed, and another where information about the system's state is utilized to apply feedback, actively shaping its evolution.
