I this talk I will argue that classical concepts of the Statistical Physics of disordered systems, such as Griffiths phases, Lifshitz tails and Anderson localization play a key and relevant role for rationalizing the global dynamics of brain networks, as well as for understanding other complex biological systems in which a trade-off between local specificity and overall integration is required.
