Victor M. Eguíluz

I was born in 1972 in San Sebastian, a beautiful small city in the Atlantic shore of Spain, close to the French border. My parents provided me with the appropriate environment to develop an independent, critical thinking and respect for the diversity.

My curiosity about nature pushed me to enrol in the Faculty of Sciences at the University of the Basque Country. I got my degree in Physics in 1995.

I decided to move to the Mediterranean shore with the hope to find my way in life. After four unforgettable years I got my Ph. D. in Physics at the University of the Balearic Islands with a thesis entitled "Complex Dynamics of Physical, Biological and Socio-economical Systems".

During the completion of my doctoral studies I enjoyed the supervision of Emilio Hernandez Garcia and Oreste Piro.

After I got my Ph. D. in 1999, I moved first to Paris (France) and then to Copenhagen (Denmark), where I had a wonderful time. I came back to the IFISC in Palma, at the end of 2001 for a postdoctoral position.

Now I have a permanent position...

Toni Pérez

I was born in 1978 in Jerez de la Frontera, a beautiful andalusian city in the province of Cadiz, Spain. I lived there until my family decided to move to Mallorca in 1992. Since then, we have lived in this wonderful island.

In 1997 I began the studies of Physics in the University of Balearic Islands (UIB), finalizing them in the University of Barcelona (UB) in 2004. After finishing the M.Sc in Physics, I have been immersed in the studies of Ph. D. in Physics at the UIB. I enjoyed a "Beca predoctoral para la formacion de personal investigador", a fellowship coming from the Conselleria d'Economia, Hisenda i Innovacio of the Govern de les Illes Balears.

My first posdoctoral experience was at the Physics Department of Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, USA from 09/2009 to 07/2011. Afterwards, I continue as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Computing Science of Newcastle University from 08/2011 to 09/2012. Recently, I obtained a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral contract to work at IFISC.
