We review and compare the transitions observed in two closely related stochastic models of opinion formation: the noisy voter model (NVM) and the noisy partisan voter model (NPVM). By introducing nonlinear interactions, the transition of the NVM becomes robust and it does not vanish in the thermodynamic limit. Furthermore, we investigate how is the transition of the nonlinear NPVM and examine its transition's universality class. We find that both the NVM and the NPVM with nonlinear interactions present a second order phase transition of the Ising universality class.
