Dec. 17, 2020

The Rector of the University of the Balearic Islands, Llorenç Huguet, and the President and founder of the Sicomoro Foundation, José María Fuster van Bendegem, signed today a collaboration agreement between UIB, FUEIB and the foundation through the Institute of Cross-disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC, UIB-CSIC).

The event was also attended by the director of IFISC, Maximino San Miguel, the director of the Fundació Universitat - Empresa de les Illes Balears, Luis Vegas and the vice-rector of Innovation and Institutional Relations, Jordi Llabrés.

This agreement includes, among others, collaboration in aspects of research, communication and teaching of complex systems through cooperation, mutual support in events and courses, the exchange of information or the carrying out of joint research studies.

During the event, a collaboration agreement has also been signed through which the Foundation will contribute to the organization of a Complex System Society event organized by IFISC in Palma de Mallorca 2022, as well as the financing of a scholarship for two academic years to a student of the Master's Degree in Complex Systems given by IFISC.

The Sicomoro Foundation is a non-profit, scientifically based organisation founded in 2014, dedicated to the study of the General Theory of Systems. The General Theory of Systems is a method of knowledge that has as its starting point interdisciplinarity and a global vision of reality, which allows it to understand situations and problems from a different approach, helping to deepen the knowledge of reality.
