The concepts of parity-time symmetry and topological phaseshave greatly inspired the forefront research in optics and photonics, with a wealth of applications ranging from metamaterial and optical devices to laser mode control and optical sensing. In this talk I will briefly review some recent results and current trends in this flourishing area of research.
