Thesis work for the Laurea degree (equivalent to a master degree):
Title: Sistemi ottici con non linearità Kerr: studio del rumore nelle strutture spaziali.

(Kerr nonlinear optic systems: study of noise in spatial structures).
Tutor: Prof. L.A.Lugiato
Abstract: A quantum model for the electric field of the light in a nonlinear Kerr cavity is considered. The model includes spatial effects and considers the vectorial caracter of the light. Quantum fluctuations in a pattern forming instability are studied. Same time and different time correlations of intensity fluctuations of output modes are numerically calculated. Some of the correlations presented quantum noise reduction below the classical limit.

PhD Thesis:
Title: Quantum fluctuations in nonlinear optical systems.

Tutor: Maxi San Miguel.

Abstract: We study the quantum aspect of self-organized spatial structures (quantum structures) appearing in non-linear optical systems, as OPO and Kerr resonators. In some regimes we show reduction of the quantum noise in the transverse modes of the electromagnetic field, associated to the process of pattern formation. The PhD Thesis is avalaible here.
