CV

current position (since 2005): PhD student under the supervision of Raúl Toral at the IFISC (Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems), a joint research Institute of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Research topics: Synchronization and phase transitions induced by diversity in dynamical systems (φ4- or model A, active rotators) and applications in biology (drug transport, synchronization in circadian rhythm pacemaker cells, tumour growth). Cooperations within the BioSim network, funded by the European Comission.

Diplom (MSc equivalent, 2004): in physics. Thesis under the supervision of Lutz Schimansky-Geier at the department for Statistical Physics and Nonlinear Dynamics of the Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. Thesis title: "Active Motion of Biological Agents, taking the Daphnia as an example" (download pdf, german, 750KB).
