Personal Data:

I finished the BSc and the MSc in Physics by the University of Cantabria located in Santander,
Spain, in 1997 and the PhD, by the same university, in 2002. During that period, I was part of
the Statistical Physics group of IFCA .

After the PhD, I moved a little: A first postdoc in Oporto (Portugal), where I worked at the Centro
de Fisica do Porto
, a center belonging to the University of Porto; and a second one in Atlanta (Georgia,
USA) in Stefan Boettcher's group at the Physics Department of Emory University. Then, for four years,
I have been a research scientist at the ISI Foundation in Turin, Italy, where I took part also in the Cx-Nets
collaboration.

Nowadays, I am a Ramon y Cajal reseacher at IFISC (Insitute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and
Complex Systems) in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, associated to the University of the Balearic Islands.

Research Topics:

My interests lie in the general field of Complexity. In particular, in the study of Complex Networks
and their use to better understand real world complex systems. More specifically my research
topics are the following:

Complex networks
Network Structure Inference
Internet use and Web traffic
Epidemic spreading

CV

We have a 3 years PhD position available within the EU network LINC to study correlations in climate
using complex-networks techniques. If someone is interested, please contact us including a CV and a
recommendation letter in the message.

There are some of the projects in which I am working that have produced open software:

  • OSLOM and network clustering in statistically significant communites:
