• Abstract:
  I will review our present knowledge on two-dimensional turbulence on the basis of high resolution direct numerical simulations of Navier-Stokes equations. The effects induced by the presence of the third dimension will be discussed in view of applications in laboratory experiments and in geophysical flows.
