Fellowships for undergraduate, graduate and PhD students

• Ph D fellowship at IFISC
  Candidates are sought for a 4 year PhD fellowship at IFISC (Institute for Cross-disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems), joint institute of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), located in Palma de Mallorca, Spain (ifisc.uib-csic.es). The fellowship is associated to the CSIC JAE program and it is expected to start around the beginning of the academic year 2010-2011. Candidates in the final stages of their studies can also apply if they plan to finalize their degrees this year.   Research at IFISC is organized around the following topics:
  * Complex systems, nonlinear and statistical physics
  * Quantum information and nanoscience
  * Nonlinear optics and dynamics of optoelectronic devices
  * Fluid dynamics, biofluids, and geophysical fluids
  * Biophysics and nonlinear phenomena in ecology and physiology
  * Dynamics and collective phenomena of social systems

• IFISC (Institute for Cross-disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems, CSIC-University of the Balearic Islands, based a Majorca) announces that CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) has called for applications to Scholarships for Introduction to Research for university students (no Spanish nationality required).
  These scholarships (with an economic endowment between 1500€ and 2000€, plus mobility expenses) can be supervised by any of the IFISC researchers. The requirements are that the student (not necessarily of physics) has passed between 35% and 70% of the universrity degree credits and has a good academic record. The work must be carried on for two months between June and September, 2009.
